How to prepare a memorial slideshow

At Legacy, we help lift the burden off of putting together a slideshow, and arrange to meet you with your stack of photos or uploading the photos to us if they are altready on the computer.

If your photos are not digital we would either have you digitize them via a scanner or meet us at Kinkos. There we would use their fast scanner to digitize the photos and give them back to you. (We want to absolutely make sure nothing bad happens to your priceless photos before they are digitized.)

Once we have, from you, the order of the pictures and music selections, we start production immediately. We listen to instructions for any other custom touches you may want included in your project. We understand how overwhelming producing a slideshow can be and we are available to help you through the process, answering your questions along the way.

You can estimate 3-4 seconds for each photo that you have, or 20-25 photos per minute depending on the speed of the song you’ve chosen. The final length of the presentation amounts to the combined length of the songs you’ve chosen, up to no longer than 15 minutes. If you go any longer you will lose the full attention of the people.

The biggest consideration you should make in choosing photos is that the better the photo quality in the beginning, the better the finished product. It’s best to select close-ups often and minimize large group photos. Try to avoid damaged photos (with cracks, discoloration, severe moisture damage, stains, or photos cut into shapes). Often we will attempt to restore damaged pictures digitally.

If you want your photos chronologically ordered make sure to label them 1, 2, 3, etc. If you are scanning your photos, a 4″x6″ photo should be 200dpi. Every photo should be 4″ x 6″ or larger, ideally. 5″ x 7″ photos should be 150dpi.

If you have video clips. we can use them just like a photograph. We will turn down the song volume as the clip plays.
